Contents as follows:
1. Notes, in Latin, on various points of Roman Catholic doctrine, including ‘De Coniugio Sacerdotum’, ‘De Missa’, ‘De Confessione’, ‘De Votis Monachorum’, citing a range of patristic and scholastic authorities.
2. Treatise, in English, on natural religion, consisting wholly or partly of extracts from Philippe de Mornay’s Vérité de la Religion Chrestienne, in the English translation attributed to Arthur Golding and Sir Philip Sidney. Begins: ‘The rules therefore and the principles of Nature which he hath made cannot be contrarie unto himselfe’ (see Sidney, Complete Works, ed. Albert Feuillerat (Cambridge, 1912-26), 3: 253). Sub-headings in the text correspond to chapter-headings in the printed edition, e.g. ‘That the immortalitie of the soule hath beene taught by the Philosophers of olde time, and beleeved by all people and Nations.’
3. Moral sentences and similitudes in English and Latin, beginning: ‘Three thinges are to be pitied, and the fourth not to be suffred. A good man in the hands of a Tyrant.’
