This fonds consists of digital copies of a sample of photographs taken by Abolghasem Jala, part of a collection of more than 3,000 pieces currently owned by Reza Jala. The copies were created as part of the project EAP001 Faces and Places in Iran: Iranian Photography at the Turn of the 20th Century. The entire collection covers the period 1934-1979; the samples presented here primarily date from the 1940s-1950s.
The digitised material consists of individual and group portrait photographs, including photographs of Polish refugees in Iran, taken between 1942-1944.
The original collection consists of prints, glass plate negatives and gelatin negatives, measuring 6 x 9cm, 9 x 12cm, 13 x 18cm and 18 x 24cm.
