- This Collection comprises digital copies of three texts, copied as part of the EAP071 Archiving Texts in Sylhét Nāgri Script project. The texts have been copied from printed and hand written volumes. All three volumes are undated and written in Bengali, in the Sylhét Nāgri script. The texts are concerned with Islamic religious themes. They contain expositions of profound Sufi principles in song, the life of the Prophet and an historical account of the battle fought in Kārbālā.

- The digital images in this collection were created as part of the EAP071 Archiving Texts in the Sylhét Nāgri Script project. At this time the originals were held by Āmirul Islām Laskar of Lakkai Māmur Mokām, Swādhinbājār, South Mohanpur, Sonāi, Cāchār, Āssām, who inherited Surmān Āli Khaliphār Gān from his religious mentor, Surmān Āli. The texts were accessed for copying courtesy of Sāmsul Haq Barbhuiñā, of Sonāi, Cāchār, Āssām.

- Received from Professor Anuradha Chanda, January and March 2008 (Accession Records EAP071/1 and EAP071/2).

- Material in this Collection was selected for digitisation by the EAP071 project.
- Administrative Context:
- EAP071 was funded by the Endangered Archives Programme. The project located and digitally copied 68 texts from 29 Collections in the sylhet nagri script through field trips in the districts of Cachar, Karimganj and Hailakandi in south Assam and Dharmanagar and Tripura near Silchar.
