Legend of a famous Buddhist monk known as Phra Malai who visited heaven and hell. The illustrations represent celestial beings (devata), and the tortures of the damned in hell.

Dimensions: 670 mm x 130 mm
Script: 5 lines per side in black ink, in two columns, each 200-250 mm long. Khom script, a variant of Khmer script used in Thailand. The manuscript is inscribed on 80 sides on one face and 68 on the other

- This manuscript was bought of a Malay or Siamese sailor at Singapore by the master of a British trading ship and has been presented to the Trustees of the British Museum by M. Thomas Mac Gill, Merchant, Liverpool 12 December 1844.
