Foliation: ff 203 ( + 2 unfoliated paper leaves at the beginning and at the end).
Dimensions: 300 x 220 mm.
Ruling: 200 x 155 mm, 35 lines per page.
Binding: 18th century gold tooled English brown binding (typical Askew binding), similar to the binding of Add MS 5110, but with the addition of the armorial crest of Michael Wodhull.
Decoration: 8 large headpieces in ink and a brown wash, with heads or animals and/or foliate or braided decoration at the beginning of books (ff 1r, 31v, 56r, 81v, 111v, 133v, 157r, 179v). 8 large initials in brown with penwork decoration, including of heads at the beginning of books (ff 1r, 31v, 56r, 81v, 111v, 133v, 157r, 179v). Text in red.

Anthony Askew (bap. 1722, d. 1774), physician and book collector: inscription 'Leigh's Auction/ Dr Askew's manuscript, by Wodhull (f [i]; his sale, 1785: bought by Wodhull.
Michael Wodhull (b. 1740, d. 1816), book collector and poet: his signature and price code 'M. Wodhull Mar: 16th 1785 £2' and notes (f [i]); his binding; his sale, 11 January 1883.

Purchased at Sotheby’s (J. E. Severne sale, of items collected by Michael Wodhull), 11-21 January 1886. Bought using the Bridgewater fund (£12,000 bequeathed in 1829 by Francis Henry Egerton, 8th Earl of Bridgewater (b. 1756, d. 1829).
