A single file of material relating to an interview of Bob Cobbing (1920-2002), conducted by Natalie d'Arbeloff at Cobbing's home on Friday 23 October 1987.
A cassette recording of the interview, received from d'Arbeloff at the same time as the material listed below, has been transferred to the British Library Sound Archive (Ref. C1473/1).
The papers are arranged as follows:
(1) Correspondence, comprising: a flyer for a Writers Forum Experimental Poetry Workshop (Saturday 3 October [1987]) sent to d'Arbeloff and annotated by Cobbing, inviting d'Arbeloff to attend and discuss interview arrangements - with Cobbing's address and interview appointment noted by d'Arbeloff on the verso; ALS (carbon) d'Arbeloff to Cobbing (16 November 1987); and ALS Cobbing to d'Arbeloff (17 November 1987).
(2) In d'Arbeloff's hand, fifteen interview questions (3 small sheets), and 'Partial transcription of the tape' (title sheet and 3 sheets).
(3) Six black and white photographs taken by d'Arbeloff on the day of the interview, each annotated by her on the verso: three photographs of Cobbing; two photographs taken at Canonbury Station; and a photograph of graffiti ('Work Kills!') on a wall near Cobbing's home. Dimensions: each photograph 85 x 125mm. With buff storage envelope.
(4) Photocopy of a photograph of Cobbing (annotated by Cobbing on the verso: 'photo: Jessica Bodin'), and a treated photocopy version of the same photograph (annotated by Cobbing on the verso: 'photograph as performance score' and signed by Cobbing).
(5) Two versions of a 'computer graphic' poetry score entitled 'Egg Box' by Cobbing (both signed and dated 1986), and a 'computer generated poem' printed as a small and larger version. (4 sheets.)
(6) Association of Little Presses (ALP) Newsletter, Volume 21, No. 3 (January-February 1987), featuring an article by Cobbing, 'Publishing by Photocopier - Cobbing Tells All!'. Together with a contemporaneous generic flyer for the performance duo Birdyak (Cobbing and Hugh Metcalfe).
(7) Bob Cobbing, Entitled: Entitled (Collected Poems Volume 11). Published by Micro Brigade, 1987. Inscribed on the title-page: 'For Natalie / Bob Cobbing / 23rd Oct 1987'.
