MS Mus. 130. DOMENICO GALLO: 36 trios for two violins and bass; mid-18th cent.
- Scope & Content:
-
Copies. Parts, in ink. An Italian manuscript with decorative title pages printed in Rome, engraved by Antonius Cleton, the title supplied in manuscript. The first violin part includes an ‘Indice De Trio’, with musical incipits (A, ff. 2-3). Each part has a subsidiary engraved title page after the first twelve trios (in the first violin labelled ‘Parte Seconda’), after which the numeration begins again. A similar collection of 36 trios is in the library of the Marquis of Exeter at Burghley House, Stamford. This set comes from the library of the Grant family of Cullen House, Banffshire. Purchased from Lisa Cox (cat. 29, no. 38), 15 Nov. 1994.
