Dyeline copy of the autograph full score of the revised version, signed by the composer and annotated in ink, pencil and crayon by Pierre Fournier. Dated 28 June 1955. Dedicated to Pierre Fournier. With three autograph letters from Martinu to Fournier, relating to his revision of the work; 13 Jan., 30 July and 23 Aug. 1955 (ff. 1-3). The work was originally adapted for Fournier in 1939 from an earlier chamber work, and subsequently revised in 1947 and 1955. Published in piano reduction, Mainz: Schott, 1931 (original version) and [1956] (revised version). Purchased at Sotheby’s, 6 Dec. 1996 (lot 142).
