GIORGIO FEDERICO GHEDINI (b.1892, d.1965): ‘Concerto dell’albatro, per violino, violoncello e Pianoforte e orchestra e recitante’ (words from Herman Melville’s Moby Dick, in the Italian translation by Cesare Pavese); 1945. Autograph full score, in ink, with numerous erasures and corrections throughout. Dedicated to Gianandrea Gavazzeni. Signed and dated Borgosesia, 22 June 1945 (f. 50v). The work is scored for speaker, piano trio, flute (piccolo), two trombones, timpani, percussion and strings. This score differs at certain points from the published score (Milan: Suvini Zerboni, 1949). Purchased from Lisa Cox, 5 June 2000.
