MS Mus. 295. ‘THE FITZWILLIAM MUSIC’: sacred music by Italian composers, copied by Vincent Novello; 1825. A neat copy of all of the transcriptions Novello made from manuscripts in the Fitzwilliam Museum, Cambridge for publication in his The Fitzwilliam Music, being a collection of sacred pieces, selected from manuscripts of Italian composers in the Fitzwilliam Museum (5 vols, Published for the Editor, [1825]). This volume lacks a title page. Throughout the volume pieces for choir and orchestra are written in vocal score; the printed edition includes the instrumental parts and the organ reduction for these pieces. Purchased from Lisa Cox (cat. 32, no. 169), 5 Feb. 1997.
