MS Mus. 1569. Jean Sibelius: Incidental music for a play, Ödlan (The Lizard), by Mikael Lybeck, for string ensemble, op. 8, with related documents; [1910?, 1986], n.d. Ink copies of the score, parts and piano score, with the composer’s autograph rehearsal markings in pencil. Cues in red ink are in Swedish. f. 1 is a title-page for the parts, marked ‘Teaterexemplar’, in the composer’s autograph. On the same folio is a note made in 1973 by John Rosas. With the following related papers: a photocopied typescript of a letter of 1908 from the playwright to Georg Nordensvan (f. 49); - photocopies of two contracts of Sibelius and Lybeck of 1909 and 1910 (ff. 50-51); - notes on the play and the contracts made by Marita Lybeck in 1986 (ff. 52-53). The first performance of the play was given in the Swedish Theatre, Helsinki, 6 April 1910, with the composer conducting. The music was published in 1997 (Helsinki: Fazer). Purchased from Lisa Cox, 8 Feb. 2002 (cat. 41, item 99).
