MS Mus. 1588. François Hippolyte Barthélemon (b. 1741, d. 1808): six arias for soprano and strings, words by Pietro Metastasio; second half of the 18th cent. Full score in ink, copy.Italian. No other manuscript of these pieces is known. The contents are: ff. 1-6r. ‘Conservati fedele’; - ff. 6v-18v. ‘Vo solcando un mar crudele’; - ff. 19-23v. ‘Per pieta bell’idol mio’; - ff. 24-34v. ‘Lo sequitai felice’; - ff. 35-39v. ‘Son sventurato ma pure o stelle’; - ff. 40-51v. ‘L’onda dal mar’ divisa’. A label on the front cover reads ‘Sei Arie Dedicate to Miss Blosset Dal Sigr Barthelemon’. Inscribed on flyleaf: ‘C W Henslowe. This Book was my Dear Fathers F. H. Barthelemon Esqre’. The incomplete autograph full score of Barthélemon’s oratorio Jefte in Masfa is R.M. 22.a.21. Purchased from Lisa Cox (Cat. 57, item 4), 14 Jan. 2008.
