MUSIC FOR FLAGEOLET; circa 1690. Added in a contemporary hand to Youth's Delight on the Flagelet the second part [...] Being the 9th edition (Iohn Clarke, [1690?]), using the ‘dot-way’ notation, or flageolet tablature, also found in the printed portions of the volume. ‘Love’s a sweet passion’ (i.e. ‘If love’s a sweet passion’, from Act III of Henry Purcell’s The Fairy Queen) is added to the blank tablature lines printed on f. 10. On f. 14v are jottings for a tune with the title ‘my young nancy’, and on f. 19v the first line of ‘The Kings Delight’. Inscribed ‘James Mackadams His Booke of tunes’ (subsequently deleted) on the reverse of the frontispiece. Purchased 6 Dec. 1877.
