GRAHAM OF DRYNIE PAPERS
- Scope & Content:
-
Chiefly correspondence and papers, 1817-1870, n.d., of Anne Pauline Camille Graham née Calvy de St André, wife (1812) of George Graham, of Drynic, co. Ross and Cromarty. Mostly French. Some correspondence is included of George Graham, 1820-1842 (Vol. II ff 2, 20, 54; Vol. III, ff. 15-124 passim), and of the Grahams' only surviving child, John Charles William Paul (b. 1842), 1855-[1894?] (Vol.III, f. 228--293). On Mrs Graham and her life as a social celebrity in Paris, see The Greville Memoirs, 1814-1860, ed. L. Strachey and R. Fulford, 1938, i, p. 382, note, and works there quoted. From Paul Graham the papers passed into the hands of Henry Anson-Horton of Catton Hall and from him, circ. 1908, to the Hon. Mrs Lucy Hannen (see Vol. III, ff. 294-299). They were acquired by the donor from the latter's daughter, Dorothy Margaret Hannen. The names of the writers are given in the Index to the present Catalogue. Three volumes. Quarto. Presented by Miss Mildred E. Carr, through the Friends of the National Libraries.
