BELLINGHAM PAPERS. Correspondence and papers of and relating to John Bellingham, executed in 1812 for the murder of the Hon. Spencer Perceval, Prime Minister (see D. Gray, Spencer Perceval, the Evangelical Prime Minister, 1762-1812, 1963, pp. 455-462); 1805-1813. Supplementary to papers of the latter in Add. MSS. 49173-49195. The chief contents are correspondence of Bellingham with the British and Russian authorities concerning the grievances which led him eventually to commit the murder. Also included are a few personal papers (ff. 46-48, 52-55), correspondence with his wife, Mary Ann (ff. 42, 49, 50), and (ff. 59-61b) a sworn statement concerning him by her partner, Miss Mary Stevens.
