A letter on f. 26 from the Transvaal government in reply to a request for arms from President Steyn of the Orange Free State, 9 May 1899, is printed in translation in his Lord Milner and South Africa, 1902, p. 603, and was, with ff. 1, 16, evidently collected for this work. Presented by Captain Richard Iwan Alexander Sarell, R.N., godson of E. B. Iwan-Müller.
