(b.1874, d.1949), relating to the Official Record of the Battle of Jutland, compiled by Harper in 1919 and finally published in 1927; 1919-1935. Partly typewritten and printed. Some copies. For the background to the Jutland controversy and Harper's role, see A. T. Patterson, ed., The Jellicoe Papers, Navy Records Society, vols. 108, 111 (1966, 1968), where some of the present material is printed. For related MSS. see Add. 48989-49057 (the Jellicoe papers), and Add. 53738. See also J. E. T. Harper, The Truth about Jutland (1927). After Harper's death the MSS. were deposited by his widow with the Royal United Service Institution, where they were numbered H.P.1 - 5. Presented by Mrs Dorothy Harper through the Royal United Service Institution, 12 Oct. 1968.
