WATERLOO CAMPAIGN: journal and correspondence of the Rev. George Griffin Stonestreet, Chaplain to the Guards 1814-1818; 1814-1830. Partly copies. Partly French. The journal relates part of the Waterloo campaign, and the letters, mostly from Stonestreet to his former brother-in-law, George Trower, of Montagu Place, Bloomsbury, report the latest news from the Low Countries and France. From 1816 all Stonestreet's letters are sent from his base at Cambrai. A note identifying Stonestreet as the author of the journal (f. 2v) is signed 'G. O. T.', probably George Oakley Trower, grandson of George Trower. Purchased at Christie's, 16 April 1980, lot 48.
