EARLY PAGET (UXBRIDGE) PAPERS: letters to William Paget, 7th Baron Paget, and Henry Paget, 8th Baron Paget and 1st Earl of Uxbridge, together with letters and papers mostly relating to Spark Molesworth, third son of Sir John Molesworth, Bart., of Pencarrow, co. Cornw.; 1690-1739. Partly Italian. At the front of the volume (ff. 1, 2) are a prefatory note dated 10 Jan. 1786 and signed 'R.R.' and an incomplete list of contents by the same hand. The preface and seven of the letters to the 7th Baron Paget were published in The Gentleman's Magazine (Jan. 1786) pp. 3-4, (May 1786) pp. 199-200. Formerly in the possession of Else, Countess Beauchamp. Purchased at Sotheby's, 21 July 1980, lot 10.

1. ff. 4-46v. Letters to William Paget, 7th Baron Paget, as Envoy Extraordinary at Vienna and Ambassador at Constantinople; 1690-1702. Most of the letters date from 1690 and 1691. For other letters and papers relating to Paget's missions to Vienna and Constantinople see Add. 21551, 28939, 28942, 33054, 34095, 36662, 37155, 37407, 38854, 46556, Egerton 918 and Lansdowne 1152 B.
