VIRGINIA WOOLF: travel and literary notebook; 1906-1909, n.d. Autograph. The principal contents are (ff. 1-89) a description of a visit to Greece and Turkey in Sept.-Oct. 1906, with comments on Merimée's Lettre à une inconnue, (ff. 90-119) an account of her visit to north Italy in Sept. 1908, with comments on Hardy's Two on a Tower and Meredith's Harry Richmond, and (ff. 120-134) notes on her visit to Florence in April 1909. Reversing the volume are (ff. iii-vii) list of expenses in Greece and Turkey and (ff. 135v-140v) an unfinished biographical description of Clive Bell. Formerly owned by Mrs Trekkie Parsons. Purchased at Sotheby's, 22 July 1980, lot 594.
