JACQUES BRUNIUS: correspondence of Jacques B. Brunius (d. 1967) and others, with various authors, the literary agency of John Farquharson Ltd., the Hogarth Press and the Pilot Press; 1944-1946. Partly French. Relating to proposals by Editions de la Revue Fontaine, (of which review Brunius was 'correspondent général pour l'Angleterre'), regarding the proposed translation and publication in France of novels, biographies, etc., by Elizabeth Bowen, Graham Greene, V. S. Pritchett, Virginia Woolf and others. On Brunius, who was at that time working at the B.B.C., see Sir Roland Penrose's appreciation in the Times, 3 May 1967. Few of the books mentioned in the correspondence are noted in Biblio, 1944-1948. Purchased at Sotheby's, 28 Oct. 1980, lot 778.
