1. ff. 1-80v. Letters from Henry Edward Fox, 4th Baron Holland, to Eleanor, Mrs J. N. Fazakerley; 1825-1832. The letters describe the English community at Naples, amongst which the Blessingtons were prominent, and his affair with Byron's former mistress, Teresa, Countess Guiccioli. For this part of Fox's life, see The Journal of Henry Edward Fox, ed. the Earl of Ilchester (1923), pp. 202-218, and Margaret Gardiner, Countess of Blessington, The Idler in Italy (1839), II, pp. 236, 260. A cast of the Sanskrit seal used by Fox at f. 62v is now Detached Seal CCV.4. For Mrs Fazakerley's letters to Fox, see Add. 52011.
