Gladstone, Prime Minister, 11, 15 April 1882. ff. 1-4; (b) letters from and to Joseph Chamberlain, 17 April 1882 (copy by O'Shea), 12 Nov. 1885. ff. 5-8v; (c) letter from O'Shea to Charles Stuart Parnell; 2 Nov. 1885 (copy). ff. 9-10. The letters from Gladstone and 0'Shea formed part of the communications leading to the Kilmainham Treaty. The text of the latter differs from that printed in C. H. D. Howard, A Political Memoir 1882-1892 (1953), pp. 34-35, which states that no copy is to be found in the Chamberlain Papers. The letter to Parnell is not mentioned in F. S. Lyons, Charles Stuart Parnell (1977).

K. Letters to the Rev. Edward Stillingfleet and his first wife Margaret, née Archer, from William Legge, 2nd Earl of Dartmouth, and others; 1751-1762. Two of Dartmouth's letters were written while he was on the Grand Tour with Lord North, afterwards prime minister. Including (ff. 76-77) two modern photographs of the monument of Margaret Stillingfleet at St James's church, Teignmouth (for brief details of her family, the Archers of Trelewack, see Add. 9416, ff. 3-7). Purchased from Charles Higham (S.P.C.K.) and presented by friends and colleagues, in conjunction with Add. 62400, in memory of V. C.
