WELSH MUSIC: collection of music for hymns, religious songs, etc., arranged mostly for three or four voices; circa 1830. Mostly Welsh. The names of the hymn tunes and other titles are sometimes given in English and include 'Waterloo', 'Rousseau's Dream' and 'William the Fourth'. Other contents include harp music (ff. 26v-27, 29v-30); a four part setting of Mozart's 'Ah Perdona' ('La Clemenza di Tito', K.621, no. 7) to Welsh words (ff. 50-51v); and music attributed to Joan Wynne of Nantlle, co. Carnarvon, 1828 (ff. 95v-96). Ownership inscriptions of Edward Jones, Holyhead, Anglesey ('his Book Aged 21 1851', f. ii) and (possibly the same) Edward Jones, Parlwr, Llanfachreth, Anglesey (f. v). Transferred from the Lending Division, 1982.
