ALBUM OF SONGS: with other short musical pieces; 1798-1802, n.d. A volume of miscellaneous manuscript items bound together, lettered 'No 12' on the front cover. Two songs by Jonas Blewitt are endorsed with his receipts dated 1800 for payment of copyright from the publisher, Edward Riley (ff. 25-26v, 73v-74v). Many of the pieces have engraver's markings. Other named composers of songs include James King Day (ff. 20-21v) and J. Ambrose (f. 22). The anonymous song, 'Come follow, follow', written for 'Miss Capper', 1799, has orchestral accompaniment in full score (ff. 83-86v). Also included are a sonata for piano with flute or violin by Thomas Brabazon Gray (ff. 40-43v); music from 'Joanna of Surinam' (imperfect) by James Sanderson (ff. 60-61v); and a set of waltzes for piano duet by Christoph August Gabler (ff. 62-66). Purchased from Rarities, Music and Books, Cleveland, Ohio, 26 May 1983.
