FAIRFAX PAPERS: letters and papers of the Fairfax family of Leeds Castle, co. Kent; 1680-1833, n.d. Partly copies and printed. Partly French, Italian and Dutch. Many of the letters, which are on both personal and official matters, are addressed to Brian Fairfax the younger, Commissioner of Customs (1676-1749), and the Hon. Robert Fairfax, M.P., afterwards 7th Lord Fairfax (1707-1793). Supplementing Fairfax material in Add. 11325, 11327, 21554, 30305-30306 and 62107-62109. Originally mounted in a 19th cent. scrapbook with the amorial bookplate of William Carr (62709 A, f. 1). See also Sotheby's sale cat., 28 March 1983, lot 7. Purchased at Phillips', 16 June 1983, lot 640.
