MOHUN CHRONICLE: prologue and opening chapters of a chronicle of world history with special reference to the Mohun family, composed by Walter de la Hove, Abbot of Newenham, and dedicated to Lady Joan de Mohun of Dunster; 1341-1348. French. The present manuscript consists of the first gathering of a volume which was still extant in 1610, when it was known as the Red Book of the Abbot of Newenham. Vellum; ff. 8. 237 x 170mm. A single gathering of 8 leaves. Single columns of thirty-three lines, written in brown ink in an English cursive bookhand, with headings in red, capitals touched in red and initials decorated with red and blue penwork.
