1. ff. 78-82. Reply to the petition from the Limerick Amnesty Society, for the release of Fenian prisoners; 16 Oct. 1869. Draft, signed, addressed and revised by Gladstone (and possibly by others). The wording shows the influence, lessened to some extent by the redrafting, of John Bright's letter to Gladstone of the same date (Add. 44112, ff. 95-98; see also Gladstone to Bright, Add. 44587, f. 99). Apparently from the papers of Sir Robert Anderson, then Home Office adviser on political crimes.
2. ff. 83-85. Three miscellaneous items, probably from the same source, including (f. 83) a warrant for the removal from Limerick to Mountjoy Prison of Patrick Dowling, suspected of treasonable practices, signed by the Lord Lieutenant, Lord Kimberley, 11 June 1866. Partly printed.
