H. Letter from Edward Chisenhale or Chisenhall (d.1654) to Roger Dodsworth; 9 April 1650. Autograph. Signed. Partly Latin. The letter comprises details concerning the Mascy and Chisenhale families and includes abstracts of five charters from 20 Edward III to 10 Richard II. Text closely written on both sides of the leaf, without addresss or greeting but subscribed 'Yor humble servt Edward Chisenhall' and dated 'Chisenhall, 90 Aprll 1650'. Headed in another hand and ink 'Colleshull co Warwick'. A marginal note by the writer states that it was sent to Dodsworth for the use of Sir William Dugdale. See Dugdale's Antiquities of Warwickshire (1656), p. 739, sub 'Gilsdon'; and see also W. Hamper, Life, Diary and Correspondence of Sir William Dugdale (1827), no. xlix, pp. 226-227. Purchased from J. J. Bond of John Fuller of Waldron, co. Suss. and Thomas Isted of the Middle Temple, London, to Dr Hans Sloane of St Giles in the Fields, co. Midd. in the sum if £6OO; 15 July 1703. Contemporary copy. Elizabeth and Anne Rose, daughters of Sloane's wife Elizabeth by her previous husband Fulke Rose, will receive fourth parts of the residue of their father's estate on marriage. Fuller and Isted, their prospective husbands, are bound to indemnify Sloane and his wife from half the annuity due Elizabeth Milner, sister of Fulke Rose, from the same residue.
