MORGAN-GRENVILLE PAPERS. SERIES I Papers of the Dukes of Buckingham and Chandos together with material concerning some of their predecessors, relations and related families, including the correspondence of Colonel, later General, Richard Grenville, (b. 1742, d. 1823), Comptroller and Master of the Household to the Duke of York (1788-1823); 1752-1888, n.d. Partly Latin and French. For George Grenville, Prime Minister, see Add. 70983. The papers have been used ,in part only, by historians, for instance by Peter Jupp, Lord Grenville 1759-1834 (1985). The papers of General Grenville were arranged in part at least by his cousin Thomas Grenville, the bibliophile and one of Richard Grenville's trustees; Thomas Grenville's annotations occur frequently in the collection. Deposited in the Buckinghamshire Record Office by Captain the Honourable H. Morgan-Grenville of Temple Grange, Iver, Bucks, and purchased by the British Library, 21 Feb. 1992.
