A. Fragment, containing the valediction and signature from a letter written by Susanne Curchod, afterwards wife of Jacques Necker, [to Edward Gibbon?]; [1757?]. Autograph. French. Laid down on a sheet of album paper headed in a 19th-cent. hand, 'Signature of a letter adressed to Mr Gibbon by Susanna Chuchod [sic] afterwards Madame Neckar'. Apparently part of the letter of 24 Oct. 1757 at Add. 34886, ff. 21-22, which has a 19th-cent. note opposite the missing portion at the end: 'the name was cut off & given to Lady Louisa Stuart October 1st 1820'.
