ALDINGTON COURT FARM, CO. KENT: 'Topographical Description of Aldington Court Farm as it is at present augmented . . . all which appertains to Thomas Digges Esq. of Chilham Castle and surveyed by William Brasier Anno Dom MDCCXX'; 1720. An early estate map by a man who, with the patronage of the Duke of Montagu and Earl of Cardigan (successively Masters-General of the Ordnance), became an Ordnance Office draughtsman and in the 1750s and 1760s drafted numerous manuscript plans of forts, etc. in North America now in the King's Topographical Collection and the Royal United Services Institution's map collection. Purchased at Christie's, 12 May 1993, lot 152.
