STEPNEY LETTERS: letters, etc., mostly addressed to George Stepney (b.1663, d.1707), envoy to various German courts; 1691-1706. Partly French and Latin. Chiefly from diplomatic representatives and other officials, whose letters also appear in Stepney's main archive cited below, but including (f. 4) one letter of domestic news from Andrew Newport, M.P., to his nephew, Richard Newport, 1693, a stray from the sequence of letters in Add. 7080. Supplementing Add. 7058-7080, 21551 and 37155-37156. Purchased from T. W .E. Corbett, Esq., of Church Stretton, Shropshire, 25 May 1993.
