CALLIGRAPHIC MAP OF SUFFOLK. 'The county of Suffolk', by Violet Wilson. 1966. Scale not stated, but comparison with OS suggests a scale of circa 1:300000. The outline map of the county, with abbeys, priories, castles and woods marked by conventional symbols, is surrounded by panels of descriptive text and the coats of arms of the two administrative authorities, East and West Suffolk, and the towns of Bury St Edmunds, Sudbury, Eye, Ipswich, Aldeburgh, Southwold, and Lowestoft. It was originally prepared for a series of guides published by the County Association Ltd. Violet Wilson was a founder member of the Society of Scribes & Illuminators. Purchased from Ash Rare Books, April 1995.
