Vera Law Papers: correspondence, papers and practice pieces; 1909-1985. Correspondence, mostly autograph, and personal papers, some printed, together with practice pieces, on paper, and a gesso and gilding sample, on wood. Vera Law (b.1899 d.1985) was born in Nottingham and trained under Graily Hewitt and others at the Central School of Arts and Crafts, London, from 1917 to 1922, and in 1921 was one of the founder members of the Society of Scribes and Illuminators. Presented by her cousin, Mrs Audrey Freeman, neé Law, Aug. 1998.
