85323-85395. Correspondence and papers of Hugh Kingsmill Lunn (b.1889, d.1949), writer; circa 1895-1987. Partly drafts and copies. Partly French and German. Autograph, manuscript and typewritten. The archive documents the literary and journalistic career of Kingsmill, reflecting his achievements in the fields of biography, poetry, drama, journalism and the writing of fiction. Kingsmill, who dropped his surname for professional purposes after the publication of his first novel, A Will to Love, in 1919, forged friendships with a number of literary figures of his day: William Gerhardie, Kenneth Hare, Hesketh Pearson and Frank Harris are well represented in the correspondence and in the section related to literary works. Material relating to Kingsmill's family-life may be found within the photographs, ephemera and correspondence. Much of the archive has been annotated and labelled by Kingsmill's wife, Dorothy; family members other than Dorothy have been referred to as Lunn.
