"SUPPLEMENT à l'histoire de France, où sont explicées les plus considerables afaires de cet état durant l'administration du Cardinal duc de Richelieu, depuis l'année 1624 [1622] jusques à 16[38]:" beginning, "Deux choses principales rendent les histoires défectueuses." On p. 886 the author writes, "Je finis en Novembre [l638] ce travail, qui est le même mois où finissent les mémoires qu'on m'a fourni; j'attende les autres pour achever, afin de rendre ce service au public, en lui conservant avec ma plume le secret de plus belles afaires qui se soient passées dans l'Europe;" after this there is a single entry relating to the death of Père Joseph. The present MS. is apparently catalogued by Le Long, "Bibl. historique de la France," under the No. 21,963. Paper; xviith cent. With book-plates of Denis François Secousse and "C L R. Jardel," of Braine, near Soissons. Quarto.
