MISCELLANEOUS papers, consisting chiefly of bonds, depositions, accounts, and public documents, relating to Dover and the Cinque Ports; 1566-1784. Among them are:-
1. Certificate of a payment made by the Mayor and Commonalty of Dover for a share in a venture to Virginia; 23 May, 1610. Signed by Edward Mayer, and sealed with the royal seal "pro consilio suo Virginiæ." f. 3.
2. Accounts of receipts and expenditure of Richard Dawkes, master of the almshouse; Jan.-Apr. 1625, f. 6.
3. Correspondence and papers relating to the billeting of soldiers; 1626. The letters are chiefly by Sir Edward Hales, one of the Commissioners, and Sir John Hippisley, Lieutenant of Dover Castle. At f. 31 is a letter from the Privy Council with signatures. f. 15.
4. Warrant for the arrest of Denzil Holles, Sir Arthur Haslerig, John Pym, John Hampden, and William Strode, in any attempt to escape beyond seas; 4 Jan. 17 Ch. 1. [1642]. Copy. f. 51.
