Edinburgh, 7 Feb. 156 5/6, f. 2;-Letter from Sir Francis Walsingham to [Sir Henry Sidney, Lord Deputy of Ireland?] ; dat. Hampton Court, 28 Jan. 1575, f. 3 ;-Letter from Mons. Nau, secretary to the Queen of Scots, to Sir Francis Walsingham, requesting an audience of Queen Elizabeth, 1584, Fr., f. 5;-Two Memorials to Oliver Cromwell from Manuel Martines Dormido, alias David Abrabanel, (a Jewish merchant of Spain, ruined and driven from his country by the Inquisition,) requesting his intervention with the Portuguese government for the recovery of debts, lost by the confiscation of the property of the citizens of Pernambuco; and urging the advantages of attracting the Jews into England, by securing to them religious liberty and protection ; at the end of the second is the order of Cromwell referring these papers " in an especiall manner " to the Council, signed J[ohn] Sadler, 4 Nov. 1654, ff. 6, 7;-" The case of Algernone and Henry Sydney, referred to Sir William Jones, as it stands in reason and common sense, which is true equity and the ground of lawe; " being a statement in their suit with their brother Philip, third Earl of Leicester, touching the settlement made on them by the late Earl; drawn up by Algernon Sidney, and stated to be in his handwriting, f. 9 ;-Letter from the Chevalier d'Eon to [Jean Frederic de Phélippeaux] Comte de Maurepas, praying to be allowed to resume the dress of the male sex, and to be employed by Government; dat.
