"LIVRE de la marine de Pilote Pastoret (?) l'an 1587": a Portolano, of seventy-eight charts of the coasts of both hemispheres, drawn on a plane scale; with pen and ink drawings of cities, fortifications, native inhabitants, animals, and vegetation. The original pencil outlines are visible under the ink. Closely connected (according to R. Hervé) with (1) an atlas of Guillaume Le Testu, now in Bibl. du Ministère de la Guerre; (2) Grand Insularie et pilotagé, of André Thevet, B.N. MS. fr. 15452-3.
At the end of the volume are original letters of Charles IX. of France, exempting Nicolas du Four, Sieur de Couldray, from the billet of soldiers; dat. Rouen, 16 Aug. 1563; Fr. Formerly attached to one of the covers. Paper; A.D. 1587. Oblong Quarto. From the Farnborough Fund. [Bibl. Eg. 1,513.]
