"A BOOKE of Warrantes to the great Guarderobe, Tempore Regine Elizabeth, towchyng her Maiesties Roobes and Appareill": a register of warrants addressed to John Fortescue, Master of the Great Wardrobe for payments for materials and workmanship, as well as for the delivery of stuffs out of the wardrobe, with minute descriptive details etc. ; 10-31 Eliz. [1568-1589]. Among the names of recipients are Mary, Queen of Scots, black velvet, satin and " taphata 16 Oct. 1568 (f. 11), " Hoyden, the foole " (f. 43), " William Shenton, foole " (f. 84), Thomasin de Paris, " our woman dwarf" (ff. 11 2, 123 b, 131 etc.), the King of Denmark, a Garter Robe " of purple vellat" (f. 181 and the King of Portugal (f. 218).
