" LIBER Ethimologiarum sancti Ysidori Yspalensis episcopi the Etyniologiae of St. Isidore, Bishop of Seville 599-636. Preceded by the letter (" Tue satictitatis," cp. xiii., Migne, Pair. Lat. lxxxiii. col. 914) to Braulio, Bishop of Sara-ossa. Another brief letter to the same (" En tibi sicut pollicitus sum," prefixed to the text in Migne, lxxxii. col. 73) is here placed at the end. In twenty books; the other division into twenty-three is, however, indicated by the arrangement of the lists of tituli, but the rubricator expressly rejects it, noting " Non est hic principium libri." Colophon, Expleto libro nos cuncti siamo de degna gratia coniuncti. amen. amen." Vellum; ff. 128. Written in a fine Italian hand of XIV. cent. Good initials, floreated or enclosing small miniatures, with partial borders. The flyleaf (f. 1) is from an unused note-book, having the heading " 1445. Memoriale magnifici domini Gerardi Dandulo de Venetiis, potestatis Verone, super quo scripti sunt processus de mere maleficiis agitati sub eius regimine." Ashburnham-Barrois MS. no. 17 (sale-cat. 1901, lot 295). Modern blue morocco binding, with gilt tooling, by Thompson, of Paris. 12 1/2 in. x 8 1/4 in. From the Farnborough Fund.
