(2) W. Coasts of Europe and N. Africa from N. of Scotland to Rio del Oro. ff. 2 b, 3;-(3) N. Atlantic from North of Frixlanda [Iceland] to Rio del Oro, with the coasts of Newfoundland, etc. ff. 3 b, 4;-
(4) S. Atlantic from the Canaries to [Tristan d' Acunha]. ff. 4 b, 5 ; -(5) S. America, southern portion, from Cape San Roque on the E. to Bahia de Santa Clara (North of Copiapo) on the W. A note states that, the direction of the coast-line (strangely distorted) is based on " la nueva description que traxo el señor Don Garcia [de Mendoza] este año 1562 de toda la costa de Chile," and agrees with the rutter (" derrotero ") of Magellan, " que por gran ventura vino a nuestras manos." ff. 5 b, 6 ;-(6) S. America, N.W. portion, north of Bahia de Todos Santos, with the West Indies east of jamaica. ff. 6 b, 7 ;-(7) Central America and the West Indies, including the North American coasts from the Gulf of California to C. de Trafalgar [Cape Hatteras ?]. ff. 7 b, 8 ;-(8) S. Africa from Tiera Negada [Gold Coast] to Strecho de Meca [Straits of Perim] with many islands of the Indian Ocean. ff. 8b, 9;-(9) Red Sea and Persian Gulf, marking also the Caspian, but with no places on it. ff. 9b, 10;-(10) East Indies from the Persian Gulf to Cauo de Cauayro [in Corea?] and Timor. ff. 10 b, 11. Vellum; ff. 11.Circa A.D. 1562. A book-plate of foreign arms, an estoile of eight points. An old number 200. Belonged to J. Hawkins (Holmes, Add. MSS. 20753, f. 191). Enclosed in wooden boards.
