WARDPOBE-ACCOMPT of Sir Andrew Wyndesore [K.B., lst Baron Windsor 15291, Keeper of the Great Wardrobe, for one year ending Michaelmas 4 Hen. VIII [1512]. Latin and English. The entries resemble those in Wyndesore's accompt for the previous year, which is described in Letters and Papers, Foreign and Domestic, Hen. VIII, i, pt. I (new ed.), no. 877 (2), and are arranged in the same order. Wyndesore was Keeper of the Great Wardrobe from 20 Apr. 1506 (Calendar. of Patent Rolls, Hen. VII, ii, p. 470) until his death on 30 Mar. 1543, and a series of his accompt-books covering with lacunae, the whole of this period is at the Public Record Office (see Lists and Indexes, xxxv, pp. 254-258, 351). According to Proceedings of the Commissioners on Public Records, 1832-1833, pp. 53-55, 183, the present MS. was removed from the Kings Remembrancer's Office (perhaps before 1794, cf. the watermarks in the paper fly-leaves at the beginning) by Craven Ord, F.R.S., F.S.A., Secondary in that office, who was also responsible for the abstraction from the same place of the following, MSS. now in the Museum Add. MSS. 7965-7967, 21480, 21481, 35114, 35181, 38006. Notes in Ord's hand occur throughout. Vellum (except ff. i-vii) ; ff. vii + 46. 15 1/4 in. x 11 in. A.D. 1511- 1512. Pasted inside the front cover, but unconnected with the MS. (cf. 21480, 21481), are paper slips containing the signatures of Peter Le Neve, Norroy, and [Rev. Sir] John Cullum [6th Bart.]. Bookplate of arms of Craven Ord, f. vi. Purchased at Ord's sale (sale-cat., 27 June 1829, lot 519) by Thomas Thorpe, the bookseller, on behalf of Sir Thomas Phillipps (MS. 3789 ; sale-cat., 2 7 June 1919, lot 715).
