PARISH REGISTER OF HULLAVINGTON, CO. Wilts; 1557-1644. Down to 1599 the entries are copies from an earlier register, made by the then vicar, John Aloore; thereafter they are original. Many entries are illegible from damp. Arranged as follows:(1) Marriages, 1557-21 June 1644. Two entries for 1633 on f. 6 are repeated, with some variations, amongst the Baptisms (f.7). ff. 1-6b;-(2) Baptisms, 24 Dec. 1558-27 Dec. 1641, including notes of the delivery of annual copies of the entries to the diocesan registrar 1609-1613 (ff. 12b-13b passim), and of the dates and places of episcopal visitations 1602-1608 (ff. 12-13 Passim). Attestations of the entries by the vicar, John Moore, and churchwardens have been made in the lower margins of ff. 12b, 13, 14. At the end (f. 22b) there are some notes of the ages of four female parishioners. ff. 7-22b;-(3) Burials, 8 Jan. 155. II Aug. 1636. At f. 29 a contemporary legal document, now largely illegible, has been written in, with signatures of nine witnesses. ff. 23-29b. Vellum; ff. 29. Small folio. 1599-1644. Signatures, etc., of Thomas Moore, son of John Moore (see the baptismal entry, 17 Dec. 1615, f. 14),
1632-1634 and n.d., appear in the lower margins of ff. 8, 14, 24. Paper indicators to entries relating to members of the Brewer family have been pasted in, 18th cent., as ff. 4, 15, 16, 18. From the Farnborough Fund.
