'in obsidione Damiete xvii. Kal. lulii' [15 June 1218]. Latin. Contemporary, or nearly contemporary, copy. Printed from this MSS. by J. F. Boehmer, Acta Imperii Selecta, 1870, pp. 642-643, no. 934. For a similar letter addressed to Pope Honorius III, see also M. Bouquet, Recueil des Historiens...de la France, xix, i833, pp. 663-664. Vellum (f. i paper); ff. i + 1. 275 x 175 mm. Early XIII cent. Ruled with a stylus, but written without regard for the left and right margins of the ruling. Used as a pastedown in the former Admont MS. 332, a 12th-13th cent. text of St Augustine, 'contra Faustum Manichaeum', for which see S. de Ricci and W. J. Wilson, Census of Medieval and Renaissance MSS. in the U.S.A. and Canada, ii, 1937, p. 1679, no. 15, and Supplement, ed. C. U. Faye and W. H. Bond, 1962, p. 398. A 19th-cent. description of the latter MS., in German, by Dom Jacob Wichner, similarly extracted from the volume, accompanies the present leaf as f. i. From the Farnborough Fund.
