MEXICO: Description of the province of Tepeaca in the state of Puebla; 1785. Spanish. A tabular summary of population and revenue is appended at the end (f. 54). Paper; ff. iii + 54. Quarto. A.D. 1785. Contemporary Mexican (?Spanish) binding of mottled calf, gilt tooled, with decorative embossed end-papers in gold and colours. Belonged to Edward King, Viscount Kingsborough (d. 1837), whose library was sold by Charles Sharpe of Dublin, 1 Nov. (postponed from 12 July) 1842, when the MS. was lot 566; it was acquired at the sale by Obadiah Rich, from whom it was bought by Sir Thomas Phillipps (Phillipps MS. 11802) (see f. 1); see A. N. L. Munby, The Formation of the Phillipps Library from 1841 to 1872 (Phillipps Studies IV), 1956, pp. 11-14. Lot 225 in a later (unidentified) sale-cat., see f. iii. The MS. was subsequently in the possession of the Wellcome Historical Medical Museum (inventory no. 76091) (see f. 1 and label, f. i).
