'A NARRATIVE Of the Circumstances which led to the Settling of the Island Penang in 1786' by James Scott; 1794. Scott pioneered the settlement of Penang with Captain Francis Light, who was afterwards his business partner; see H. P. Clodd, Malaya's First British Pioneer-the Life of Francis Light, 1948, passim. See also Add. MS. 45271. Included (ff. 1, 2) are two letters, 28 Aug. and 28 Dec. 1794, from Scott to Henry Dundas, 1st Viscount Melville 1802, President of the India Board, to whom he sent the narrative. Paper; ff. 20. Quarto. A.D. 1794. Belonged to the Wellcome Historical Medical Museum (inventory no. 75900).
