Correspondence and papers of Elizabeth Fry née Gurney, the Quaker and prison reformer (b. 1780, d. 1845), and of other members of the Fry and Gurney families; 1700-1872. The chief correspondents are Elizabeth Fry's husband, Joseph Fry, her sister, Rachel Gurney, and her eldest daughter, Katharine Fry. The names of all the writers are given in the Index to the present Catalogue. Some of the letters were printed by Katharine Fry and Rachel Cresswell in the Memoir of the Life of Elizabeth Fry, 2 vols., 1847.
