DEBATES IN THE HOUSE OF COMMONS; 9-31 Jan. 1770. Fair copy, made from the original shorthand notes by Henry Cavendish, M.P. (2nd Bart. 1776), with extensive autograph corrections, deletions, and additions. Preceded (f. 2) by a contents-list, and followed (ff. 238b-247) by an index. The present MS. comes between the fifth and sixth volumes (Egerton MSS.
219, 220) of a series of forty-eight volumes of Commons debates, 10 May 1768-13 June 1774, now Egerton MSS. 215-262, acquired by the Department in 1833 and printed, in part, by J. Wright, Sir Henry Cavendish's Debates of the House of Commons, '.' vols., 1841, 1843, and Government of Canada. Debates of the House of Commons in ... 1774, 1839. Paper; ff. ii+247. Quarto. A.D. 1770. The MS. was identified as being the missing volume in the series by Sir Lewis Bernstein Namier, while it was in the possession of the Hansard Society, and was acquired by the Department through his good offices.
